Situated in the Municipality of Cainta, Rizal is a small town just outside Manila and surrounded by big cities like Marikina, Pasig and Antipolo. The informal settlers’ communities of Ascona, Bronco, Balay and Puma (A.K.A. Squatters) are home to more than 5,000 people. Many heads of the families are daily wage workers such as construction workers, laborers, helpers, drivers and women are usually stay-at-home mothers. In this group of communities’ poverty is deeply rooted in the family for generations. Due to poverty other issues also arose in which children are the biggest victims such as neglect, hunger, malnutrition, teenage pregnancy, drug abuse, deprivation of education and many more.  With the support of GCF, we have been able to continuously reach out to the children in the said communities through; (1) weekly outreach programs where we teach them songs, dances and bible stories wherein they will learn good values and the wonderful plans of God for them. (2) Feeding program for children who are hungry and malnourished due to their parents’ inability to provide them with their basic needs such as nutritious food. (3) Salbang project or rice assistance for the family of the beneficiary children on condition that both the parents in the family attend the church every Sunday then they will receive twenty kilos of rice every month. Through this project we have seen many lives transformed, husband and wife relationships restored and strengthened, and led many people to having personal relationship with Jesus as their Savior and Lord. (4) Scholarship grants for deserving students. To date we have sent three students to college education from the community of Ascona where poverty is rampant, and we are regularly paying the full tuition fee and other school expenses. We are grateful to GCF and sponsors for the continued support and unwavering resolve to fight child hunger and poverty. May God bless you and your family.
