In the Philippines, where crime has sharply increased due to the difficult economic situation following COVID-19, the weekly meal-sharing program has become a  much-awaited moment of joy for the children of Bagong Silang and the even poorer riverside community of Rodriguez—many of whom can afford to eat only once a day.  With rising prices, frequent typhoons, and floods worsening the gap between the rich and the poor, poverty continues to trap families with no fundamental solution or change in sight. Yet, in the midst of these hardships, the shared meals bring smiles and hope to the children in both areas.  With the generous support of Global Children Foundation (GCF), we purchase food supplies at the market every Saturday. Meals are then prepared and served—on Saturdays for the children in Bagong Silang and on Sundays for those in the Rodriguez riverside community. The meals include rice and pansit (a Filipino noodle dish similar to Korean japchae).  We sincerely pray that God’s abundant grace and peace will continue to fill Global Children Foundation, which has been faithfully serving children in need around the world.
