West AsiaIn northern Iraq, there are more than 15 refugee camps housing people who have fled from Turkey and from the war in Syria. Among them are the Yazidi refugees—members of the Yazidi ethnic group who escaped the attacks of ISIS and are now living in tents in Sharia Town. Through the support of GCF, we have been able to comfort and care for these refugees whose bodies and hearts have been worn down by years of camp life. We provide milk to children suffering from protein deficiency and offer nutritious meals to those who otherwise cannot afford them. To help them maintain their health in daily life over the long term, we also supply vitamins and other supplements. Each family—often including two wives—has more than 15 children, so we pay special attention to those with developmental disabilities. In addition to feeding programs, we offer activities such as music and art to promote emotional stability and holistic development. We are also providing vocational training for the older brothers and sisters, helping them gain skills for a better future.
