Since April 2023, the civil war in Sudan has resumed and has now continued for two and a half years.  As a result, more than 700,000 new refugees have crossed the border into neighboring Egypt, and currently, over four million Sudanese refugees are living there.  Egypt itself is a poor country, yet the Sudanese refugees live in even greater poverty. Most refugee families have between five and eight children and suffer from malnutrition because they cannot afford to eat meat.  Over the past year, we have been serving about 80 Sudanese refugee children—around 45 of them are under 10 years old, and about 35 are older than 11.  We purchased refrigerators, ovens, and dishes for the refugee school to provide meals for the children, and we have also distributed food boxes, blankets, and school bags to refugee families.  It has been deeply rewarding to provide food and education to these families and children who have fled Sudan and are now struggling to survive in Egypt.
