In 2024, the Amazon rainforest is experiencing the most severe drought in 50 years. Climate change has led to declining water levels and rising temperatures, causing many rivers to hit record-low levels. In Manaus, the water level has dropped to its lowest since 1902, severely impacting agricultural exports and the transport of essential goods. Additionally, hospital boats that provide care to riverside communities are struggling to access these areas, creating significant challenges for local residents.  Adding to these difficulties, approximately 20,000 square kilometers of the Amazon rainforest have been lost to wildfires. This has caused air pollution in Manaus to remain at a “hazardous” level for two consecutive months, further exacerbating the hardships faced by the local population.  Despite the challenging circumstances, we are committed to supporting 100 children from the Tuyuka tribe and the São João do Tupé riverside village through the Global Children Foundation (GCF). Our efforts will prioritize providing essential food supplies and critical medical services.
