Tanzania_Hyunsik Kim 2024

Since 2012, we have been serving the Makonde tribe in the Mwenge Woodcarvers Market, a marginalized area in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The Makonde, traditionally known for their ebony carvings, are one of the most disadvantaged tribes in Tanzania. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we asked the children who accompanied their parents to the carving market about the foods they most wanted to eat. Almost all of them mentioned eggs and chicken. Inspired by their responses, we began raising chickens in 2021, hoping to provide eggs for the children. After numerous trials, we successfully brought high-quality laying hens from Korea, and we anticipate egg production to begin next year.  Thanks to the generous support of the Global Children Foundation, we have been able to provide the children with eggs, snacks, and cornmeal, supporting their nutrition and growth. The bright smiles of these children, nourished by balanced meals, bring immense joy and hope to this community.  We extend our heartfelt gratitude to GCF and all its donors for your compassion and dedication to these underserved children. Your love is transforming the lives of these children and bringing light to this underprivileged region.
