South AmericaThis year’s rainy season completely transformed the appearance of Caserío. The river changed its course, and the village of Brisas de Abancay, where the children live, became a small island. The children at the Caserío children’s soup kitchen had to live under the threat that the rising river might swallow their entire village. More than ever, the help from Global Children Foundation was desperately needed for the children of Caserío. Now that the dry season has arrived, the residents of Abancay still struggle daily to make a living and have no means to repair their damaged and leaky homes. For our children, the daily lunches they receive have become a vital source of strength that helps them get through each day. The meals provided by Global Children Foundation not only relieve the children’s hunger but also give them hope — the comforting assurance that there are friends who care for them — and the courage to endure these difficult times.
