Just ten minutes away from the city of Nairobi lies a vast slum area — a place filled with danger, where the streets are surrounded by glue and alcohol abuse. In this harsh reality, even 13-year-old girls become mothers, unable to study or attend school.  The children supported by Global Children Foundation (GCF) are now at least freed from the pain of hunger and are beginning to live with hope. In the M Primary School, which has 820 students in the Nairobi slum area, and in the E Primary School located in the Maasai region — a place that can only be reached after a 3.5-hour bus ride — GCF’s support has made a remarkable difference.  Children in the Maasai region often drink a small cup of goat’s milk early in the morning before walking one to two hours to school, gathering sticks along the way. Although there is a lunch break at school, there is usually no food to eat, so they spend the time playing soccer with balls made of plastic bags. After school, they walk across open fields, holding the hands of their younger siblings — three or four of them — only to return home to empty kitchens with nothing to eat.  Thanks to Global Children Foundation’s support beginning in 2025, the children now receive maize flour and sugar to take home. Though the distribution cannot happen every time, when they receive 2 or 4 kilograms, they are able to make ugali (cornmeal porridge) and share it with their siblings for several days.  The support from GCF has not only filled their stomachs but also brought visible changes — their faces are brighter, their confidence is returning, and they are beginning to find hope in life once again
