Philippines - Missionary In Hyo Kim
Children in the Philippines Mindor area
First of all, thank GCF for helping many children who suffered greatly from the typhoon of Mindoro island in the first half of 2017 and the second half of the year (August to October).
I was very glad that we were able to feed 561 local children (182 infants/kindergarten, 292 elementary and 87 middle school students) on a regular basis with the most of this grant. GCF Feeding Program has become an indispensable ministry in this village, and it has become an important opportunity for the children of the Mangyan tribe to escape from hunger. In particular, the Mangyan tribe children account for 70% of the total village children's population, and most of their parents find it hard to provide every meal as a poor farmer. GCF is playing an important role in helping these children in the region. In addition to the GCF Feeding Program, the provision of school supplies, medical care, and housing for students who have lost their homes due to typhoons have also contributed to the community greatly. Henceforth, it would be a good idea to develop a program that will enable raising children of the village more effectively. For example, I think it would be more fruitful ministry to build a child center that can help children's learning after school and further concentrate on nurturing people.
